" I Am The Bread of Life"

Do you love me?

The following is the purely scriptural text - which support
the Catholic Sacrament of Holy Communion.

"Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."

(Luke 1:39-45)

"I Am The Bread of Life"

"For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him."

(John 6: 55-56)

"Does this shock you?"

"What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail.
The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
But there are some of you who do not believe."

Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe
and the one who would betray him. And he said,
"For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me
unless it is granted by my Father."

As a result of this, many [of] his disciples
returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him.
Jesus then said to the Twelve, "Do you also want to leave?"
Simon Peter answered him, "Master, to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life.
We have come to believe and are convinced
that you are the Holy One of God."
(John 6:61-69)

Just as you know not how the breath of life
fashions the human frame in the mother's womb,
So you know not the work of God
which he is accomplishing in the universe.
(Eccl 11:5)

...If you only knew how much Jesus really loved you,

you would die of joy!

~ St. Jean Vianney

...and you yourself a sword shall pierce (Luke 2:33-35)

For we, being many, are one bread, one body,
all that partake of one bread.

1 Cor 10:15

This web site is dedicated to the awesome, unfathomable Divine Love and Mercy of Jesus Christ who came into this world to save us.

This site was created with the desire to promote greater love and devotion to Jesus Crucified and His True Presence in the Blessed Sacrament found only in The One, True, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.  Having said that,  it has always been this webmaster's understanding and intention that under this Catholic banner can also be found our dear Orthodox brothers and sisters.  But for the sake of peace and the desire for greater unity among her Catholic members (in imitation of His Holiness Pope John Paul II) this webmaster wishes to clarify for our readers that the Orthodox Churches - although separated from us by unfortunate divisions - yet possess the true sacraments and above all share by apostolic succession, the priesthood and the Eucharist, whereby they are linked with us in closest intimacy.

'Mother of the Word Incarnate, Pray for us.'

We would be also negligent if we failed to make mention of how vitally important and relevant the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus is for us today.  And how the great love and indebtedness the Church feels for the Great Mother of Our Lord - a feeling likewise shared by all the members of the Christ's church.  She, who by her perfect life of charity, humility and suffering, reflected most beautifully the tender love of The Sacred Heart of her Divine Son Jesus.  She who by her 'fiat' enabled the Son of Man to enter into the world.  Has become for us our hope and security - for by her powerful intercession she obtains for her children great mercy and favor from God as she draws from the depths of His Mercy - as one draws water from a well.  And who by her perfect unity to God's Will - even accepting the horrific death of her beloved son - cooperated intimately in the salvific effects of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus thus partaking in the saving grace of the human race - and of which we are all called to imitate.

Jesus chose to come into this world through Mary,
and it is through Mary, that we may always come to find Jesus.

'And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.'

It was St. Peter Julian Eymard who said,

“It was Mary who first adored the Incarnate Word.  He was in her womb, and no one on earth knew of it.  Oh! how well was our LORD served in Mary's virginal womb!  Never has He found a ciborium, a golden vase more precious or purer than was Mary's womb!  Mary's adoration was more pleasing to Him than that of all the Angels.  The LORD ‘hath set His tabernacle in the sun,’ says the Psalmist.  The sun is Mary’s heart,” and “Mary is the aurora of the beautiful Sun of Justice.”

And as Mary said of herself,

"My soul doth magnify the Lord; And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my savior. Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid;
For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name. And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him."(Luke 1:45-47)

It is our great hope to encourage people of the Catholic Faith represented in all her members (Roman Rite, Byzantine Rite, Ukrainian Rite, Greek Rite,  Ruthenium Rite, Ambrosian Rite, etc. Coptic, Eastern and Orthodox Catholics) everywhere to create quality inspirational websites emphasizing the awesome mysteries and truths of our holy and enduring Great Faith.

John 1:29

"Behold, the Lamb of God,
who takes away the sin of the world."

" I Am The Bread of Life."
(John 6:48)

The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,
"How can this man give us [his] flesh to eat?"
Jesus said to them,

John 6: 52-54
"Amen, amen I say unto you:
Except you eat the flesh of the Son of Man,
and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you."

John 6:55-56
"He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood,
hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.
For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed.
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood,
abideth in me, and I in him."

John 6:57
"Just as the Father who has life sent me
and I have life because of the Father,
so the one who feeds on me will have life because of me."

John 6:60
Then many of his disciples who were listening said,
"This is hard; who can accept it?"

John 6:64
"But there are some of you who do not believe."
Jesus knew from the begining the ones who would not believe
and the one who would betray him.

John 6:66
As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life
and no longer accompanied him.

Jesus then said to the Twelve,
"Do you also want to leave?"

John 6:67-69
Simon Peter answered him,
"Master, to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life.
We have come to believe and are convinced
that you are the Holy One of God."

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass

John 6: 48-58

"Your fathers did eat manna in the desert, and are dead.
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven;
that if any man eat of it, he may not die."

(1 Cor. 11 25-27)
St. Paul's letter to the Corinthians:

In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood:
this do ye, as often as you shall drink,
for the commemoration of me.
For as often as you shall eat this bread,
and drink the chalice, you shall shew
the death of the LORD, until he come."

Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread,
or drink the chalice of the LORD unworthily,
shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the LORD.
But let a man prove himself: and so let him eat of that bread,
and drink of the chalice.  For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgement to himself,
not discerning the body of the LORD."

The chalice of benediction and the bread which we break: the body of the Lord.

 1 Corinthians 6:20
For you are bought with a great price.
Glorify and bear God in your body

1 Corinthians 10:15
I speak as to wise men: judge ye yourselves what I say.

The chalice of benediction, which we bless,
is it not the communion of the blood of Christ?
And the bread, which we break,
is it not the partaking of the body of the Lord?
For we, being many, are one bread, one body,
all that partake of one bread.

1 Corinthians 10:21
You cannot drink the chalice of the Lord,
and the chalice of devils:
you cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord,
and of the table of devils.

(Douay Rhiems)

They Recognized Him
In the Breaking of the Bread....

(Luke 24:30-31)

"And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight."

Jesus Christ:
The New Covenant

Jeremiah 31:31-34

The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel and the house of Judah.  It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers the day I took them by the hand to lead them forth from the land of Egypt; for they broke my covenant and I had to show myself their master, says the LORD.  But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD.  I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  No longer will they have need to teach their friends and kinsmen how to know the LORD.  All, from least to greatest, shall know me, says the LORD, for I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sins no more.

Isaiah 42:6-9

I, THE LORD, have called you for the victory of justice, I have grasped you by the hand; I formed you, and set you as a covenant of the people, a light for the nations, To open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement, and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.

I am the LORD, this is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise
to idols.  See, the earlier things have come to pass, new ones I now foretell;

before they spring into being, I announce them to you.

The Last Supper: The First Mass

The Last Supper:
The Perpetual Establishment of The New Covenant
in The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass

Luke 22:20
And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
which will be shed for you."
this do ye, as often as you shall drink,
for the commemoration of me.
For as often as you shall eat this bread,
and drink the chalice, you shall shew
the death of the LORD, until he come."

(thus, this New Covenant is to be perpetually instituted
unto all generations until He comes again)

Hebrews 7:17
For it is testified:
"You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek."

Hebrews 7:26-27
It was fitting that we should have such a high priest:  holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, higher than the heavens.  He has no need, as did the high priests, to offer sacrifice day after day, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did that once for all when he offered himself.

John 19:36-37

"They shall look upon him
whom they have pierced."

"Ecce Homo"

"Behold the Man"
John 19:5

Yet it was our infirmities that he bore, our sufferings that he endured, While we thought of him as stricken, as one smitten by God and afflicted. But he was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins, Upon him was the chastisement that makes us whole, by his stripes we were healed.  But the LORD laid upon him the guilt of us all.

Isaiah 53:4-6

"What shall I render to the LORD,
for all the things that he hath rendered to me?
I will take the chalice of salvation;
and I will call upon the name of the LORD."

Psalm 115:12-13

“When you look at the crucifix,
you understand how much Jesus loved you.

When you look at the Sacred Host
you understand how much Jesus loves you now."

~ Mother Teresa of Calcutta

"Grieve over the contempt cast upon Jesus Christ
in the Blessed Sacrament, and try to make amends for it
by a greater and more ardent love."

~ The Cure' of Ars, St. Jean Vianney

Opening Communion Prayer:

'LORD Jesus,
You redeemed us by your passion
and raised us to new life in baptism.
Protect us with your unchanging love
And share with us the joy of your resurrection,
For you live and reign for ever and ever.  Amen'

"Put all the good works in the world against one Holy Mass;
they will be as a grain of sand beside a mountain."

~ The Cure' of Ars

"The soul hungers for God, and nothing but God can satiate it.  Therefore He came to dwell on earth and assumed a Body in order that this Body might become the Food of our souls,"

~ The Cure' of Ars

~ St. Augustine

Reflection of the Day...
One Hour Spent with Jesus...

Because St. Martin [de Porres] was black and illegitimate he was insulted and mistreated.  He identified with Jesus, ignored and mistreated in the Blessed Sacrament.  As they consoled each other, Martin became more charitable, not hostile, better not bitter.  He would spend as many as eight hours each day in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
"This so pleased Jesus that he made Martin a miracle worker.  He would take a basket of fresh bread from the monastery and go out into the streets to feed the poor.  With a single basket of bread he would feed an entire barrio.
"Martin fed hundreds of starving people with a single basket of bread.  You, dear Thomas, save hundreds of people from hell with a single holy hour of prayer in the Presence of the Living Bread come down from Heaven."

(From the book Letters To A Brother Priest)

"O Israel!  O holy soul!  How grand a thing is the house of God, the Church which possesses so august a Sacrament.  O amiable Jesus!  Thy beloved disciple may well say that it was particularly at the end of Thy life, when Thou didst institute this inestimable mystery, that Thou didst give to us the most precious pledge, the most signal token of love!  O incomprehensible goodness of God, to place it in our power to possess, whenever we wish, Him who ravishes the Angels, and who makes the happiness of all the Saints in Heaven!  What more could we desire, Ah, why do not all Christians every day enjoy this great happiness, which God every day offers to us!  Amen."

(St. Teresa)

For Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,
but we proclaim Christ Crucified,
a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
but to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike,
Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom,
and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

1 Corinthians 1:22-25

Humanity Lost Without The Gospel

God's Power for Salvation
For I am not ashamed of the gospel.
It is the power of God for the salvation
of everyone who believes;
for Jew first, and then Greek.
For in it is revealed the righteousness of God
from faith to faith; as it is written,
"The one who is righteous by faith will live."

Romans 1:16-17

But if you partake of the sufferings of Christ,
rejoice that when his glory shall be revealed,
you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

1 Peter 4:13

"These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace.
"In the world you shall have distress: but have confidence,
I have overcome the world."

John 16:33

We know that all things work for good for those who love God,
who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8 28
