The Cure' D' Ars:
"We ought to say to God:
"I can do nothing of myself.
I can only give you my desire
to love you. Here it is!
O my God, uphold me and do all
yourself."
St. Jean Vianney:
" God sends no trial
without consolation."
St. Jean Vianney:
" Our greatest Cross is
The fear of crosses."
(Proverbs 3:5,6)
Trust in The Lord
Trust in the Lord
with all your heart,
On your own intelligence
rely not;
In all your ways be mindful
of him,
And he will make straight
your path.
(1 Corinthians 1:26-31)
God Chose the Weak
Consider your
own calling, brothers.
Not many of you were wise by
human standards,
Not many were powerful,
Not many were of noble birth.
Rather, God chose the foolish
of the world to shame the wise,
And God chose the weak of the
world to shame the strong,
And God chose the lowly and despised
of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who
are something,
So that no human being might
boast before God,
It is due to him that you are
in Christ Jesus,
Who became for us wisdom from
God,
As well as righteousness, sanctification,
and redemption,
So that , as it is written, "Whoever
boasts, should boast in the Lord."
(Jeremiah 29:11-12)
God's Plan For You
"For I know the plans I
have for you, says the LORD, plans for
welfare and not for evil, to
give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon me
and come and pray to me,
and I will hear you."
(Psalm 33:17-22)
Hope in The Lord
Useless is the horse for safety;
great though its strength,
it cannot provide escape.
But see, the eyes of the Lord
are upon those who fear him,
upon those who hope for his
kindness,
To deliver them from death and
preserve them in spite of famine.
Our soul waits for the Lord,
Who is our help and our shield,
For in him our hearts rejoice;
in his holy name we trust.
May your kindness, O Lord, be
upon us who have put our hope in you.
(Hebrews, 10:19-25)
Recalling the Past
Therefore,
brothers, since through the blood of Jesus we have confidence of entrance
into the sanctuary
By the new and living way he
opened for us through the veil,
That is, his flesh,
And since we have
"a great priest over the house
of God,"
Let us approach with a sincere
heart and in absolute trust,
With our hearts sprinkled clean
from an evil conscience
And our bodies washed in pure
water.
Let us hold unwaveringly to our
confession that gives us hope,
For he who made the promise is
trustworthy.
We must consider how to rouse
one another to love and good works.
We should not stay away from
our assembly, as is the custom
of some,
But encourage one another,
And this all the more as you
see the day drawing near.
(Luke 1:46-55)
The Canticle of Mary
"My soul proclaims the greatness
of the Lord;
My spirit rejoices in God my
savior.
For he has looked upon his handmaid's
lowliness;
Behold, from now on will all
ages call me blessed.
The Mighty One has done great
things for me, and holy is His Name.
His mercy is from age to age
to those who fear him.
He has shown might with his arm,
dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart.
He has thrown down the rulers
from their thrones but lifted up the lowly.
The hungry he has filled with
good things; the rich he has sent away empty.
He has helped Israel his servant,
remembering his mercy, according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham
and to his descendants forever."
(Matthew 5: 3-12)
The Beatitudes
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and
thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called
children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted
for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult
you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely]
because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your
reward will be great in heaven.
Thus they persecuted the prophets
who were before you.
(Psalm 22)
The Lord is My Shepherd
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall
not want.
In verdant pastures he gives
me repose;
Beside restful waters he leads
me; he refreshes my soul.
He guides me in right paths for
his name's sake.
Even though I walk in the dark
valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side
With your rod and your staff
that give me courage.
You spread the table before me
in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows/
Only goodness and kindness follow
me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house
of the Lord for years to come.
(Psalm 26)
Trust in the Lord
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is my life's refuge;
of whom should I be afraid?
When evildoers come at me to
devour my flesh,
My foes and my enemies themselves
stumble and fall.
Though an army encamp against
me, my heart will not fear;
Though war be waged upon me,
even then will I trust.
(Zephaniah 2:3, 3:12-13)
The Day of the Lord:
A Day of Judgment
Before there comes upon you the
day of the Lord's anger.
Seek the Lord, all you humble
of the earth,
Who have observed His law;
Seek justice, seek humility;
Perhaps you may be sheltered
on the day of the Lord's anger.
(Zephaniah 3:12-15)
Reproach and Promise for Jerusalem
But I will leave as a remnant
in your midst
A people humble and lowly,
Who shall take refuge in the
name of the Lord:
The Remnant of Israel.
They shall do no wrong
And speak no lies;
Nor shall there be found in
their mouths a deceitful tongue;
They shall pasture and couch
their flocks
With none to disturb them.
Shout for joy, O daughter
Zion!
Sing joyfully, O Israel!
Be glad and exult with all
your heart,
O daughter Jerusalem!
The Lord has removed the judgment
against you,
He has turned away your enemies;
The King of Israel, the Lord,
is in your midst,
You have no further misfortune
to fear.
